Rumble in the Jungle

Last week was Monster Week on Animal Planet. The creature feature on Sunday, May 24, 2015, was The Cannibal in the Jungle. The story takes place in the tropical jungles of Indonesia, in 1977. A team of researchers are seeking a very rare bird. One by one, each researcher meets an early demise, except for one. The lone survivor gets blamed for the murders. But he in turn, puts blame on an unknown species of beasts, lurking in the jungle. This story is complete fiction. It’s also a complete waste of time! If a program is presented on an educational network like Animal Planet, I expect it to be truly factual. And I expect to learn from it. If I wanted to see a fictional story, then I could go to any other channel for that. I am truly disappointed that Animal Planet would mislead viewers with such deception!

Good luck Nina and Godspeed :)

The season finale of Vampire Diaries aired on Thursday, May 14, 2015. And it was an emotional episode as well. SPOILER ALERT: The star of the teen drama, Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert, has left the series after six great years. As the storyline goes, Elena is linked to Bonnie. Elena died at Alaric’s wedding when a support beam or something similar fell on her. Elena will awake when Bonnie dies, which might be in another 70 years. There were flashbacks from the very first episode, to more recent events. She said her farewells to all her cast members. The episode ended with a feathers flying, and plenty of tears. Thank you Nina, for six unforgettable seasons! And Best of luck on your future endeavors!

Don’t lose your marbles in Fiji

The season finale of River Monsters aired on Sunday, May 10, 2015. A numbers of locals have been turning up dead in the waters off the Fiji Islands. Jeremy Wade travels to this tropical paradise in search of the trevally. This fish has been known to use its strength to ram sharks, causing internal damage and even death! Wade catches his suspect but he’s not completely satisfied that his job is done. He then travels to another section of the islands, hoping to snag the marbled eel. The search is not easy because this eel dwells a dark, underwater cave. But first, Jeremy must get permission to fish for this deadly predator. After given the green light, Jeremy casts his line and waits all night, even sleeping on the nearby boulders. Finally, something bites and Jeremy reels in the multi colored killer.

Party like it’s 1995

I have wanted to see S. Darko (2009) as soon as I first heard about its release. I finally got the chance, when the DVD came in the mail on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. S. Darko is the sequel to Donnie Darko (2001). S. Darko is the story of Donnie’s sister, Samantha and her best friend as they go on a cross country road trip, while being plagued by strange events. The Darko series is a unique one, these films fit into at least two different genres. They take place in the past, approximately 12 to 14 years earlier, which makes them Historical pieces. They also deal with time travel, which makes them Science Fiction. I highly recommend seeing the former, before seeing the latter. Both films are at a slow pace. I have read some bad reviews of S. Darko. And I could possibly agree that this film was not as good as its predecessor. It definitely does not contain as much star power as the original. But it did not leave a bad taste in my mouth. If you were a fan of the first one, this film comes close so I can recommend it. Love it or hate it.
