I hope the rest of Detroit isn’t this boring

I tuned onto Netflix the other day, and as I was scrolling through the available selections, I decided to stop on The Giant Mechanical Man (2012). This movie appeared interesting enough, from the title and screen captures, I was under the impression that this movie involved robots, a major metropolitan city, and Jenna Fischer of The Office. These elements would sound like a great combination when put together, so I had to find out by watching it. The film does not feature any robots.  However, it does feature a man who covers himself with silver, from head to toe, day in and day out, as he wanders the streets of Detroit, Michigan. During his journeys, he encounters Jenna Fischer’s character, who becomes somewhat enamored by him. She can’t stop thinking about this mysterious, mechanical, tall man, even while she goes on dates, with another character, played by Topher Grace. Eventually, the tall silver man and Fischer meet, where they work their day jobs, at the zoo. And over time, they get to know each other, help each other out, share laughs, etc. And I guess they live happily ever after. This romantic comedy, if you can call it that, moved at a relatively slow pace. I found the whole film quite boring actually. The filming locations were not that spectacular to look at. And the dialogue did not particularly stand out either. There are many more romantic comedies out there, which are better worth your while, than this flick. If you encounter The Giant Mechanical Man, then I suggest you keep walking by.
